A teenage boy has died after crashing his car south of Sydney last night.
The car was travelling on Lakeside Drive in Kanahooka, near Wollongong, when it left the road and hit a tree at about 8.45pm.
The 17-year-old driver died at the scene and two passengers were hospitalised with serious injuries.
Lakeside Drive was closed in both directions for much of the night with crash investigators on scene.
Yesterday, a five-year-old boy died when the car he was a passenger in crashed in the Northern Territory.
Just before 6am, a passing motorist contacted police after finding the vehicle on Cheeney Road, Stapleton.
The boy’s 27-year-old father was treated for serious injuries.
